What this page does, and what it will not do
- It checks a stamp against the bytes it seals
- Each stamp names a fingerprint. This reader takes the fingerprint of every file you dropped and pairs them on that, never on a file name. A stamp and a file that merely share a name are not a pair, and this page says so rather than joining them up.
- A gap is not a finding
- A stamp whose file you did not include, and a file no stamp seals, are both read as not checked. Nothing contradicted them. You will only meet the word for a contradiction where something actually was contradicted.
- Two stamps can carry one content id
- A content id is a fingerprint of what a stamp seals and when — not of who signed it. So two different stamps can carry the same content id, and both can hold. Where that happens this page shows both, reads each on its own, and says which of them it cannot tell apart from the other. It picks neither, and it treats neither as refuted.
- It shows no light
- The desk shows one light over a whole chain, under its own roster. This page holds no roster, so its light could only ever read not checked or doesn't hold, and one glyph over a stranger's folder is the sentence a screenshot turns into a certificate. The questions are answered record by record instead.
- It holds no roster and opens nothing
- This page cannot say whose device signed a stamp or what a sealed commitment says. Those read as not checked on every record, and the reason is said once at the top rather than forty times. They do not decide an item's headline, which is the worst of the questions this page could actually ask of it: a question this page holds nothing to ask with is not a question that ran.
- It issues nothing
- There is no score here, no rate, no grade and no pass. A stamp that holds fixes the bytes and a time bracket; it does not make the declaration inside those bytes true. OpenStamps has assessed nothing in your folder and issued nothing about it.
- It is not the desk
- This page receives what somebody else produced. It cannot ask anybody for anything, cannot add to your folder and keeps nothing after you close it. The buyer's side of this is the desk.
Opening a finding shows the record's own words, because those are what was contradicted. This page collects them nowhere and groups nothing by who is named in a record.
